TRAFFIC LIGHTS

While it’s impossible to install a set of traffic lights at every intersection, Glenn worked hard to add new lights, for safety reaons, at strategic locations in Scarborough.

In recent years, helped to install traffic lights in several locations:TRAFFICLIGHT_Scarb

  • The lights at Danforth and Barrymore allow people to get across the street to the library safely.
  • The lights at Bellamy and Nelson allow school kids to access Cedarbrook School and St. Nicholas School.
  • The lights at Ellesmere and Parkington Crescent allow residents of the North Bendale subdivision to get to the bus on the north side of Ellesmere.
  • Even the new lights in the Bellamy Road and Markham Road hydro corridor (south of Brimorton) allow cyclists, seniors and kids to cross the road safely. These lights are also controlled by smart computers that turn the lights red only when activated by a pedestrian (so, please remember to press the button!) or a vehicle’s presence; otherwise, they stay green to allow traffic to move efficiently.
