Work this summer in the Youth in Policing Initiative

Applications are now being accepted for the 2018 Youth in Policing Initiative (YIPI) Summer Program. If you’re a youth in Woburn, Eglinton Avenue East, Scarborough Village or other listed neighbourhoods, you might qualify for this innovative program.

The program offers an opportunity to develop job skills  and interpersonal skills. It’s invaluable training for young people considering a future career with the Toronto Police Service, but the many participants who go on to other careers say the training they receive in YIPI helped them succeed in many fields! The program has been made possible through a partnership between the Toronto Police Service, the Toronto Police Services Board and the Government of Ontario’s Ministry of Children and Youth Services.

If accepted into the program, which pays $14 per hour, you would be required to work 35 hours per week from July 3 to August 24.

To qualify, you must be…

  • age 15–18 as of July 3, 2018
  • attending school
  • legally eligible to work in Canada
  • successful through the employment security clearance process

You may not have participated in the Youth in Policing Initiative in the past. In addition, children of family members of current and retired Toronto Police Service personnel are ineligible to participate in the program.
